Barry Landry is currently the PM2 Maintenance Planner at Port Hawkesbury Paper, a position he held since 2012, previous to that he was an Industrial Mechanic / Millwright since 1998. He completed a 3 year apprenticeship program from 1992 to 1995 for Dept of National Defence (Dockyard) in Halifax NS where he received his Red Seal Industrial Mechanic / Millwright Interprovincial Ticket along with an Armament Fitter Ticket. He Graduated from a 2-year Industrial Mechanic course in 1992 which happened to be the first year NSCC was formed.
Barry is also a member of Millwright Local 1178 ( joined in 1995) where he got to work in many different areas of the province along with NFLD and Ontario (All Heavy Industry). He also worked in Alberta (Fort McMurray) from Sept 2011 to Oct 2012. He had many opportunities to witness the importance of the apprenticeship program country wide and is looking forward to our future here in Nova Scotia.
