Apprenticeship Management System (AMS)
What is AMS and why is it being developed?
The Apprenticeship Management System (AMS) is an online self-serve system that will improve access to information for apprentices and employers who are participating in apprenticeship.
AMS was developed by the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island, and is part of a major initiative to maximize harmonization amongst apprenticeship programs in the Maritime Provinces. It is also a key focus of our efforts to modernize the apprenticeship system.
What are the benefits of AMS?
Benefits for apprenticeship staff: AMS will maximize efficiencies for apprenticeship staff, freeing up time to focus on clients. Service delivery is also enhanced with access to reliable real-time data and communication tools.
Benefits to employers and apprentices: Apprenticeship staff efficiencies and streamlined processes, result in faster service for employers and apprentices. Using the AMS self serve features employers and apprentices will have access to services online, as well as the ability to manage and track the apprenticeship journey in real time.
What can you do in AMS?
Employers and apprentices will have access to track and manage information in real time, enabling an active role in the apprenticeship journey with improved access to information for decision making.
AMS is designed to improve engagement/communication. Apprenticeship staff will have access to targeted channels for communication – ensuring the information important to you is readily available. AMS will also include features to help you stay connected. Each apprenticeship step is integrated in AMS, and those involved in the apprenticeship process are notified when action is needed.
Apprentices can register as an apprentice, log hours, register for training, apply for examinations and schedule meetings with their Industry Training Consultant. Most importantly, apprentices can log in at anytime to see all the information related to their apprenticeship – training, exams, hours, etc.
Employers can log into AMS and track the progress of their apprentices and update their hours 24/7.
When is it coming?
The new system will launch in January 2026. Over the next 12 weeks, you will be receiving regular updates from the Agency on the system and how you will login for the first time. Rest assured, we have moved all your information over to the new system.
Is there training for AMS?
Training tools are developed for apprentices, journeypersons, training providers, employers and agency staff and will be provided to you prior to your first login.
Where can I get more information?
The Agency will be updating you frequently over the next 12 weeks to share more information about the processes and services the new system will support. In additional to our direct communications, new information will also be posted on our website: https://www.nsapprenticeship.ca/agency/ams
